CORRECTING STUDENTS CORRECTLY: AVOIDING GRAMMAR MISCONCEPTIONS IN THE FOREIGN LANGUAGE CLASSROOM

Grammatical accuracy is a justifiable goal in language teaching classrooms. But misconceptions about grammar can hinder this goal. The main misconception that native speakers make errors when using their own language. They do not. idea mistakes languages detrimental to foreign classrooms because teachers attempt find answers questions, they encounter conflicting information and are sometimes not able give students useful answers. cause of the conflation formal informal style, which leads usage being incorrectly stigmatized as incorrect grammar. This paper will outline three major arising from fundamental confusion style grammar: 1) use words incorrectly; 2) said be real words; 3) emphasis redundancy. issue addressed context English principles apply across languages. Knowledge these allow answer advise students.
